Lesson Descriptions

Classes for Children/Youth

Classes are designed to introduce students to the world of dance in a fun, age-appropriate way!

Dance training can help develop the skills children need to excel in any field. Self confidence, discipline, perseverance, respect, and preparation are just some of the qualities learned through a study of dance. Our goal is to instill these qualities in our students as they develop skills for self-expression through creative movement.

Comfortable and non-threatening, our classes are designed to give you the confidence you need to have fun and look great on any nightclub dance floor! An easy way to meet people or just stay active, our class sizes are small enough for you to get the attention you need to quickly step up your skill level.  No partner needed!

Intro to Salsa

Appropriate for those who have no prior Salsa dance experience, concepts taught in this class provide the building blocks for other classes in the program. You will be introduced to proper footwork, technique, and terminology for the fundamental steps and turns, which will give you the confidence and foundation for consistent improvement. Get hooked on the Latin beat that is Salsa!

Salsa I

For those who have completed Intro to Salsa, this is a progressive course for beginners. You will learn and practice the basic step footwork and turns, with variations, as well as key concepts of correct posture, weight transfer, frame, and connection. Fundamentals of lead and follow, and the cross-body lead, are emphasized to prepare you for more advanced partner work. Students will learn how to connect the moves from Intro to Salsa, adding additional moves and styling, for a great look and confidence on the dance floor!

Salsa II, Salsa III (Intermediate), Advanced Salsa

Students will continue to build on the fundamental steps that make up Salsa, with increasingly difficult patterns and shines and more advanced combinations. Students will learn how to incorporate better technique for turns, cross body leads and variations, and basic step variations, while developing their own Salsa style. Attention to arm styling and body movement, as well as musicality and using the music to drive your patterns, are all facets of the dance style that will make you stand out on the dance floor. It's up to you. How good do you want to be?

Salsa on 2

Salsa on 2, or Mambo, is danced by breaking on the 2nd beat in Salsa music. Referred to as New York style, it is the style used in many clubs in the larger cities up and down the east coast. Be prepared to dance wherever you are!
